DeRiggi Run

 Saturday August 21, 2010

Meet 10:00 A.M.  Depart 10:30 A.M.

The following is Brian's description of the Road Run and directions:

To get to Edinboro take Interstate 79 north to the Edinboro exit which is exit number 166.

We will meet at 10:00 AM on Saturday 8/21/2010 in the parking lot to the front left of the Walmart in Edinboro. GOOGLE MAP We will depart to ride at 10:30 AM. The Walmart is located to the right at the base of the Edinboro exit of  Interstate 79. There is ample room for truck and trailer parking in this parking lot. Our ride will be approximately 90 miles in length and will encompass mainly country and rural roads. We will head east for a short distance on US 6N then south on Fry Road to Irish Road turning left on to Irish heading west again (all country) until we intersect RT 99. We will follow RT 98 North past Edinboro State University and through the town of Edinboro and continue north to McKean Township (all rural road). In McKean we will turn left on to West Road heading west to RT 832. We will turn right on to RT 832 north and follow this route all the way to Peninsula Drive and Presque Isle. We will make the 14 mile trip around the peninsula and head back to RT 832 heading south. We will pick up RT 5 Alternate West and follow it until we intersect RT 5 West. We will follow RT 5 west until it merges with RT 20 West. We will follow RT 20 West to Conneaut, Ohio. We will stop for lunch at the White Turkey Drive In Restaurant in Conneaut Ohio. This is a great old fashion open air drive in restaurant with good food and clean restrooms. Among their menu offerings they have shredded turkey sandwiches and home made root beer. After lunch we will head east on RT 20 back to 6N East toward Albion, Pa and straight through to the Walmart at Edinboro. This should be a nice safe and leisurely ride with most (but not all) of the roads posting a 45 MPH speed limit or under The trip around the peninsula has a PA State Park posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour. There are plenty of gas stations along the way as well as public restrooms and I have family and friends in the area with trailers and tools who are never more than 30 minutes away should anyone develop mechanical problems and need picked up.

Thanks,
Brian DeRiggi
